Mixed Green's: Jeff Senour & CTS
How did the band's name come about? Was it a group effort or an epiphany?
I started the band almost 7 years ago which started as an epiphany, basically. I had been in rock bands my whole life since high school but didn't start writing until about 10 years ago. I felt that a lot of music out there today was lacking substance, which is OK since music is supposed to be fun also. However, I wanted to write music that had a message that everyone could relate to , something with substance.
Did you get into music for the art of it or was it all because of the groupies?
I got into music since I was a child. My mom was musical and is where I got it from. It's not about the groupies, don't get me wrong, I like the attention you get when performing but to me it's more about touching someone inside with great music. It's about when someone in the audience relates to their lives in my music.
How do you feel about being a part of Mixed Greens?
I am honored to be a part of Mixed Greens and am excited that you have chosen to include us as a part of it.
How about the personalities of the group? Who's the wild one, who's the business one, who's not paying attention?
The personalities of the group run the spectrum. We have a member that is quiet and softspoken but is a rock solid player. We have the storyteller and comedian, and then we have the social light, me. I tend to be the front warrior of the group mixing with people and meeting and greeting. The band all get along well though and we are great friends. Any disagreements are handled well and quickly.

Who's your idol or inspiration for your music?
I have many inspirations, Bon Jovi, U-2, most of the modern groups, Greenday, Matchbox 20, 3 Doors Down and many others. I try to write music that sounds mainstream like what's being heard on the radio. My inspirations are also writers that have that substance. U-2 is one of my all time favorites. I think Bono is a great example of a person that uses his fame for great things to make a difference. I hope I can do the same someday.
How often do you write songs and how do you come up with your song concepts?
I write songs constantly as I am an Airline Pilot, I travel a lot and take my guitar on the road with me. I always have at least 15-20 songs in the works at all times. Sometimes it's one little statement someone says or an idea that comes to mind or just a melody line that I then think of what lyrics would fit. My writing is about my life experiences, some good some bad some sad. I think as a writer you have to be willing to open your heart and soul up to people since your music is a story in a sense of who you are.
Where do you feel music is going in the next couple of years?
I think music has great potential in the future. I think sometimes the business has become more money oriented and not about good music but there still is great talent out there. The internet has been hard on the music industry but with downloads for 99cents and all , it is slowly recovering. Unfortunately we came through a phase where people think music should be for free. People wouldn't dream of stealing merchandise from a store but think nothing of taking music becuase of the internet.
Slowly though people are realizing that music is an art , written by and artist and that is worth money , just like a painting or anything. I think the future of music is great. It is here to stay and people will always want more.
Mixed Greens is a Blended Musical Compilation how do you describe your music?
My music is I would say , Alternative Rock, with a great message about life. Some of it is sad, happy, relationships, spiritual and fun. Every song I write is somewhat different in all respects and doesn't all sound the same.
What was the name of the first song you recorded? Please write down a couple of bars of that song.
The first song I recorded was "Footprints". It's about the parable of Footprints in the Sand.
When I'm walking , and I think that/I am all alone Every step I take, Every move I make/
You're always guiding me home/When I turn around and see one Set of footprints in the sand/
You've carrying me in the palm of your hand.
