Mixed Green's Artist: Rachel Lynn
Did you get into music for the art of it or was it all because of the groupies (Male and Female)?
Music actually got into me …I was injected with the spirit of music from a very early age and haven’t stopped singing, writing and playing since.
How do you feel about being a part of Mixed Greens?
The diversity and solidarity behind the project is what pulled me in. Mixed Greens is a collaborative effort on all levels; it comes from the spiritual notion that what is good for you is good for me.
Who's your idol or inspiration for your music?
My inspiration is the idea of reaching a multitude of people with my message. As for musical influences and inspirations: Tracy Chapman, Alanis Morissette and Erykah Badu.
How often do you write songs & how do you come up with your song concepts?
How often I write songs depends on how open I am in the moment. If I’ve closed my heart and mind to God out of stubbornness over a situation: I won’t be able to write. However, if I remain open and in touch with my emotions and thoughts I’ll be writing three songs at once!
My concepts can be sparked by a single melody, a quote, a friend’s situation…everything can be used in the creative process.

Mixed Greens is a Blended Musical Compilation how do you describe your music?
My album is a fusion of rock and soul with a dash of electronica. There are rolling beats embellished with haunting vocal melodies that keep you fixed in and ready for more.
Where do you feel music is going in the next couple of years?
Music will go where it’s always gone…back to the source: its creator.
Whats the best part about creating your own music?
Creating music is like any other creation process…you give birth to a new idea that no one before you has brought in just the same way. With every new song comes the satisfaction and pride of being a new mother…there is nothing like it.
What was the name of the first song? Could you please write down a couple of bars of that song?
The very first song I wrote was a gospel song 13 years ago" "Freely You Give"
:
“Lying here waiting about to give up
when at last you arrive
and my spirit arises‘cause I know it’s your
love being sent from above just to guide me.
How many times have my Eyes failed to see
the love that you’ve given…so freely.”
