MG's Artist: UNPREDICTABLE R.E.D.

How did the band's name come about? Was it a group effort or an epiphany?
My name came about do to my personality. A friend in high school new I started rapping so he kinda help me put two and two together to be different but still have a name that remained personal. This was back in 1995.

Did you get into music for the art of it or was it all because of the groupies?
I've always loved music! I started writing because my outlet passed away in 1994. Rip Irma Green. Back then music was music especially when it came to gansta rap. I started doing it as a stress relief, as a scapegoat from doin dumb shit in the streets. Back then I felt a lot of pain, which in turn caused me to have a short fuse. Still today I’m in it for the luv first money second.

How do you feel about being a part of Mixed Greens?
The mixed greens project helps put the hiphop into my catalog. Being involved with this project has helped keep the happy side of the art apart of my craft. I know the way things are going with music nowadays is based on who you know. It feels good to be apart of something because of my art.

How about the personalities of the group? Who's the wild one, who's the business one, who's not paying attention?
Lol!! When I think of STRE-EAT Fame Entertainment it can be all of the above. We're all wild, about business, and if someone’s not paying attention the other person picks up the slack. We've been working together since 98 so we're familiar with each other’s personalities.

Who's your idol or inspiration for your music?
I idolize all of the pioneers. (E.g. Too Short, LL Cool J, Snoop, E-40, & Scarface) That’s only a few.

Where do you feel music is going?
I feel that music is going back to the 90's era where people wanted to dance as well hear a story. People want a voice that they can listen to, to push them to make it through their problems.

Mixed Greens is a Blended Musical Compilation how do you describe your music?
My music is that 90's era music. I have club bangers like “Simen Sayz” that everybody can listen to. Then I have my story songs that are aimed towards people my age and younger that need the voice from the streets to help them cope.

What's the best part about being about to create your own music?
I love being able to be me on wax. I can give you the serious side as well as the comedian side of ‘R.E.D.’ I can talk about what I wanna talk about and say it how I want it to be heard!

What was the name of the first song you recorded? Please write down a couple of bars of that song.
Man!! The name of the first song I recorded was “Flossin and Tossin.” My producer at the time thought the material I had on paper was too personal to get heard on the radio. So we sat in the studio and came up with a concept we thought was commercial at the time, which was in 1998.
